Nicole Lundgren
Aquatic Toxicologist
Nicole joined the Port Gamble laboratory in July 2020. She graduated from the University of Washington (2013) with her BS degree in Biological Oceanography and a minor in Marine Biology. Her senior thesis focused on the identification and diversity of zooplankton species in Barkley Sound in Canada. While zooplankton may have been Nicole’s thesis, microalgae is her passion. After graduation, Nicole focused her career on microalgae working with multiple Puget Sound shellfish hatcheries maintaining sterile microalgae cultures and volunteering for the Sound Toxins program. As a toxicologist for EcoAnalysts, her passion for microalgae has remained strong. Nicole has been able to continue her work with algae, but in the freshwater variety, for our team.
On the weekends, you can find Nicole out in nature, from gardening in her backyard, to camping and hiking with her husband, Christian, and their two rambunctious bully pups, Caius and Juniper.
