Michael Reuscher

Marine Polychaete taxonomist

Michael joined EcoAnalysts as a marine polychaete taxonomist in 2020. Michael has been studying taxonomy, biodiversity, and ecology of polychaetes since 2007. He has described three new genera and more than thirty new species of marine polychaetes from worldwide locations. Michael has visited numerous natural history museums to study polychaetes of their respective collections and to collaborate with other polychaete taxonomists. Michael is also an active taxonomic editor for the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) database.

In addition to his taxonomic expertise, Michael has extensive experience with environmental assessments and monitoring projects. He contributed to the natural resources damage assessment of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Michael’s involvement included identification of benthic macrofauna, data analysis, and publication of the findings.
