Julia Levengood

Senior Aquatic Toxicologist

Julia started as an intern at the Port Gamble Environmental Laboratory in 2009 while earning her B.S. in Environmental Science/Toxicology at Western Washington University. Since then, she has gained extensive laboratory and consulting experience in ecotoxicological evaluations of sediment, soil, and water. Julia is highly proficient in maintaining test organism cultures, performing bioassays using the full gamut of standardized test species, data analysis, and application of statistical evaluations. She has also assisted with applied forensic laboratory studies, such as toxicity identification and reduction. She actively manages a variety of effluent and sediment projects spanning the country, communicating project specifics with clients and providing data reports and interpretations. Julia has also assisted in field operations involving the collection of marine animals for use in biological assessments, reference sediment collection, providing surface support for divers, and sorting of marine and freshwater benthic samples using a dissecting microscope. In her free time she enjoys baking, practicing hot yoga, litter-patrolling, and staying active with her dog, Jeanie-roo.
